Here is my tribute to Halloween. I photographed the daughter of a friend of mine in the costume in diffused light, and then selected her with the quick selection tool in Photoshop. This selection was pasted into the foggy forest background using Edit > paste. I then grabbed a snarling black leopard from my files, pasted that into the forest image, reduced it in size with Edit > scale > transform, and used the 'lighten' blend mode (found in the layers palette) to eliminate all of the black fur of the cat. This left primarily in the eyes and the mouth. Finally, I moved the cat into position with the move tool in the tools palette.
