This is a beautiful street in Bergen, Norway. The conditions were perfect for photography -- it had just rained and the cobblestone glistened beautifully. I usually use daylight white balance for my twilight and night shots because I like the combination of the warm colors from artificial lights juxtaposed with the cobalt blue/purple color of the sky. The biggest challenge in taking this shot was waiting for the street to be cleared of poeple. That was especially tricky because of the long exposure. I used a small lens aperture to make sure the immediate foreground was as sharp as the background. My settings were 8.0 seconds, f/18, and 400 ISO. I didn’t use a filter to get a star effect from the lights. I used a 24mm focal length, and the combination of a wide angle lens plus a small lens aperture produces this effect with any point source of light.
