In Bali, there is a bird park where visitors can photograph many exotic species of birds endemic to Indonesia as well as other parts of Asia and Africa. This is an umbrella cockatoo I captured during one of the educational presentations in which several of the birds fly freely. The cockatoo took off before I was ready, and my shutter speed was much slower than I'd normally use for birds in flight. I grabbed the shot at 12 frames per second, and my settings were 1/250, f8, and 3200 ISO. The superior autofocus mechanism in the Canon R5 locked onto the swiftly moving subject. I am surprised the bird is as sharp as it is, but the wings were breaking the bird's speed as it was about to land on its handler. I was grateful for the diffused light so contrast was at a minimum.
