One of the amazing creatures my group photographed today in the frog and reptile workshop is this beautiful Panther chameleon. To get this unusual perspective, I shot straight downward using a 50mm macro lens at f/32 for maximum depth of field. The lighting came from a Canon ring flash. My ISO was 200. The eyes of chameleons move independently of each other, and it's fascinating to watch them. The background is black due to the light falloff from the flash. When a flash is placed very close to a subject -- such as two inches away -- the background becomes black just a few inches behind the subject.
