A very unusual wide angle view of giraffes can be taken at the Giraffe Manor if you stay overnight at this (very expensive) B & B just outside of Nairobi, Kenya. This beautiful estate, originally built in 1932 and modeled after a Scottish hunting lodge, became a refuge and breeding program for the Rothschild giraffe which was in danger of extinction due to habitat loss. The giraffes hang around the large stone house, sticking their heads in the large arched windows hoping for a snack of corn pellets. When I was there, I hand fed a giraffe and was able to feel how coarse the large tongue is. Definitely a very cool experience. I took this picture by the front door with a 16-35mm lens as the young giraffe towered over me. Unlike being on safari where all your shots must be taken while seated in a vehicle, here I was standing on the ground. My settings were 1/320, f/9, and 160 ISO.
