photographed is this striking veiled chameleon. I set it up outside so the background was out of focus foliage, but there were too many highlights in the original and I felt they were distracting. Therefore, I replaced the background with a more muted and more blurred background. In photographing the reptile, I made sure the back of the camera (i.e. the plane of the digital sensor) was parallel with the body of the animal so I could have complete depth of field. This could then reveal all of that great detail while the background remained blurred. When doing macro work, how oblique or how parallel the sensor is to the subject is an important consideration when planning the depth of field. My settings were 1/125, f/8, and 640 ISO. I used a 70-200mm medium telephoto for the shot.
