The Blue City in Morocco offers compelling environments to use for a variety of subjects. Cats are one of them. My favorite scenarios are solid cobalt blue streets, doors, or stairways punctuated by a single compelling subject that dominates a viewer’s attention. I shot this with a 16-35mm lens, and the settings were 1/640, f/18, and 3200 ISO. Even with the inherent depth of field associated with wide angle lenses, I used a small aperture to make sure the entire scene was in focus. This is particularly important when the foreground-subject distance is short. The closer you are to the foreground, the more depth of field is reduced: Hence, the f/18 aperture.
