I'm flying to France this morning to begin my White Horses of the Camargue photo tour. This shot was taken last time when we put two stallions together. I replaced the sky in Photoshop to add drama to a shot that was already dramatic. Based on tests I made, horses galloping and splashing through water as well as rearing can be frozen with sharp detail throughout the image with a shutter speed of 1/1250, so my settings for this image were 1/1250, f/6.3, and 500 ISO. I actually prefer to use a faster shutter speed with the mirrorless cameras because it's added insurance that everything will be tack sharp. In previous years, I was very concerned about raising the ISO too high. Now, with advancements in camera technology and with the help of Topaz DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI, I now feel much more comfortable setting the ISO to 3200 and above. That means faster shutter speeds are possible even in relatively low light conditions.
