White on white in Yellowstone

My favorite color theme in nature is white-on-white, and winter in Yellowstone National Park is a great place to find these kind of images. When photographing snow, I don’t use any exposure compensation. I let the whiteness of winter underexpose my pictures just enough to protect the vulnerable highlights from becoming overexposed. In Adobe Camera Raw, I then use the exposure slider to bring the image back to what I saw. I know many photographers feel this is wrong because of the possible introduction of additional noise, but this is a small risk I’m willing to a accept in exchange for preventing highlights from blowing out and losing detail and texture. In light of the great software we have now for mitigating noise, this really isn't much of an issue now especially in winter photography. For this shot, I used a 24-105mm lens and the settings were 1/1000, f/11, and 1250 ISO.
