When you photograph models, keep in mind that they usually have no idea what you want or what your vision is. You have to direct them. Sometimes they pose very nicely, but much of the time they don't. Therefore, you have to take pictures of the models with an artist's eye. The posture, the placement of the hands and feet, the direction of the gaze, how the model holds a prop -- all of these things have to be seen in your mind and then communicated to the model.
I'm in Venice, Italy right now for carnival. I lead a photo tour here every year, and every year the photography is second to none. Here most of the models know how to pose, and this makes my job a lot easier. Still, beautiful arrangements like this one have to be previsualized and then you have to ask the models to accommodate you.
I shot this with a 24-105mm lens set to the 24mm focal length.
