Besides the snowy owls, I took my group to a lake here in Canada where there are hundreds of mallard ducks, mute swans, and other water fowl. Throwing seed to the birds brings them in to the shore, and from a slightly elevated perspective I shot this amazing pattern of color and design. I still wanted a fast shutter because the ducks were in constant motion, although in retrospect I should have slowed the shutter down so the ISO would have been less. I used Neat Image software to reduce the noise, and as usual it did a great job. Because the back of the camera (i.e. the plane of the digital sensor) was oblique to the plane of the mallards, I used a very small lens aperture for depth of field. My settings were 1/3200, f/13, 16,000 ISO.
