I photographed this iconic 1959 pink Cadillac at a car show in Nashville. It was in an asphalt parking lot with an unattractive and distracting background. I feel that backgrounds are just as important as subjects in making strong images, so I meticulously selected the car as well as its shadow using the pen tool in Photoshop (this is the most precise way to make a selection) and pasted the car (Edit > paste) in front of a row of colorful houses in St John, Newfoundland. The colors of the architecture didn't match the car, however. So, using Image > adjustments > hue/saturation, I selected each house and moved the 'hue' slider until the color complimented the car. I tweaked the color of the pink door at the lower right separately.
