One of the more interesting and unique animals I've photographed is the giant anteater. I captured this one in Brazil. Their eyesight is very poor, so with stealth and patience, it's possible to approach them quite closely. You have to be very quiet, though, placing footsteps carefully. Their sense of hearing is superb. I took this shot with a 500mm focal length, but I have other images of closeup portraits done with a 200mm telephoto. These guys eat on average about 35,000 ants per day. Hard to imagine. My settings were 1/2000, f/11, and 500 ISO. I was grateful for the overcast light because harsh midday sunlight would have degraded the picture quality.
