This is a favorite portrait of mine I took in Mongolia. I hired a model dressed as a 13th century queen, and my photo tour group and I took her to a remote area of the steppes for the photography session. This particular shot was done with a medium telephoto lens (Canon 70-200mm). That meant the background wasn't tack sharp even though my lens aperture was small. Therefore, I took a separate shot of the rugged terrain and composited that behind the model to have complete depth of field. Because I wanted the selection of the model to be perfect, I used the pen tool working at 200%. I also added the sky to enhance the overall look. My settings were 1/40 (with image stabilization), f/20, and 400 ISO.
