You can't help but feel good about the world when you watch baby elephants. They act just like two-year old children. They are just learning how to use their trunks, they romp around with abandon, and I'm sure they try their mother's patience. It's really very funny and quite adorable. I captured this family group in South Africa with a 100-400mm Canon zoom at 120mm. The frustration I feel when shooting from a vehicle in Africa is that I would prefer to be on ground level. The vehicles position photographers too high in my opinion. I understand why this is necessary -- to clear the bottom of the Land Rovers from the undergrowth and to protect people from animals and definitely snakes. Still, as much as I love a picture like this, it would have been better from a lower angle. My settings were 1/125, f/5.0, and 500 ISO.
