When I lead photography tours to India, I do a lot of model shoots. The beautiful architecture and the vivid colors invite photographers to create classic travel pictures. The city of Jodhpur in the desert state of Rajasthan is known for its stunning combination of cobalt blue and aquamarine, and with the addition a colorful sari, the pictures can’t help but be like eye candy. I usually hire young Indian to be my models, but in this instance I used my wife. We bought two silk saris to be used for our photo shoots. Limiting our purchase to only two was really tough because no one makes exotic, stunning fabrics like the Indians. The colors and patterns are like nowhere else in the world. To take this shot, I climbed a couple of steps to gain an elevated perspective. My settings were 1/160, f/7.1, and 320 ISO. I used a 24-105mm lens for the shot. Note the diffused lighting and how striking and rich the colors are. It is counterintuitive, but color is reproduced more vividly in diffused light.
