I led a photo tour to Newfoundland in eastern Canada five years ago, and I thought it would be appropriate to have a photo session with a Newfoundland dog. So, after asking everyone I came in contact with, I finally located a man who had one. He agreed to have my group come over to his house and photograph his dog, Jazz. Newfies are huge, and their personalities are often 'goofy.' Just look at his expression. These dogs have no idea how big they are, and they'll come bounding over to you and sit or lay on your feet, essentially pinning you to the ground. I love big dogs, so this was a real treat. The problem was the backyard had an unattractive fence as a backdrop, so using Topaz Remask 5 (that pre-dated Topaz Mask AI) I selected Jazz and the grass and replaced the background with an out of focus (to match the focus fall-off of the grass) iceberg I'd photographed off the coast of Newfoundland on the same trip. My settings were 1/160, f/5.6, and 800 ISO.
