The images I take in Venice during carnival inspire me to create special effects with them. The fantasy nature of the costumes and the lack of human features (because usually every square inch of skin is covered by the costume and the mask) provide great components I use to put together intriguing composites. This is Florine Houee, a French model I've been photographing since 2006. She always comes to carnival with 3 or 4 wonderful costumes, and she is always great to work with. Here, I composited her with a mirrored background I made from the colorful houses on Burano Island. I added the sky and saturated the colors. Making a complex selection takes time (for this one I used the pen tool), but Photoshop gives us the ability to make any kind of visual image we want.
