My photo tour group took a fabulous hot air balloon flight over one of the great estates in France -- the 16th century Chateau Chenonceau. Our pilot skillfully guided the balloon so it sailed right over the stunning chateau. I told my clients to shoot with a large lens aperture because at this distance, depth of field was irrelevant. A large f/stop would enable us to use a fast enough shutter, given the movement of the balloon, with a reasonable ISO setting. I used a 100-400mm lens for most of the shots, and for this picture the settings were 1/1000, f/4.5, and 500 ISO. The early morning light added to the beauty of the scene, as did the still water in the River Cher which created a perfect reflection.
