Cardiff Castle in Wales was constructed in the late 11th century. This particular room inside the castle is called the 'Arab Room', and the ceiling is beyond compare. The room is small so I used my Sigma 14mm f/1.8 lens to capture as much of it as I could. I had to adjust the color temperature (i.e. the white balance) in post-processing to arrive at a mix of colors I liked. My settings were 1/80, f/3.5, and 1000 ISO. Notice the windows are completely blown out. I had a choice: I could shoot an HDR sequence and retain detail outdoors, or I could take a single frame, expose for the ceiling, and let the windows become solid white. I chose the latter because the exterior detail was of no interest at all and I thought it would detract from the magnificent artwork in the room.
