I'm in Venice now conducting my annual photography workshop here. The first day was a resounding success with dozens of amazing costumed models. One of my favorite models for the past many years is Jeanne-Renee Georjon from France seen here in purple. Her career for many decades was making porcelain dolls, and her costumes reflect that. I took this with a 24-105mm lens from just 3 or 4 feet away. My settings were 1/200, f9, and 2000 ISO. Jeanne's passion for costume making is evident because even at 80 years old she manages to participate in this remarkable annual event, showing off her artistry by wearing her handmade costumes.

Signe Thorsen - It was great seeing you and Dia on Burano last week. I’m sorry we didn’t have time for a longer chat. Your photographs are marvelous! I love this one. Well, actually I love most of them.
