One of the reasons I choose to stay in the hotel I've used for the past 15 years during carnival is because they have an elegant room with traditional Venetian decor. I brings models to the hotel for my group to shoot, and everyone loves the ambience of the room as well as the colors. This one was done yesterday. One of the ladies in my group felt the sconces in the background were distracting, but I and most of the others liked them. I shot this with only ambient light -- a large chandelier and two tall windows with white sheer curtains that softened the daylight streaming into the room. We did a lot of poses. This one is my favorite because of the symmetry and balance. I shot this with a 16mm focal length, and the settings were 1/100, f/4.0, and 2000 ISO. I set the white balance to 'tungsten', and in post-processing I worked the temperature scale until I liked the color balance.
