I have a lot of favorite images from my annual photo workshop in Venice, Italy, during carnival, but this one is at the top of the list. Thanks to my friend, Robin Yong, who organizes groups of costumed models for me, we had a sensational location, perfect lighting (from a bank of large windows), and stunning costumes. I used a 24-105mm lens, and in the relatively low light environment, my camera settings were 1/80, f/5.6, an 3200 ISO. Notice how the diffused window light coming from the left side creates subtle texture and dimension in the costumes and the architecture. Also note how the huge mirror in the center of the wall is reflecting the decor in the opposite wall.
