This is a composite from my recent Carnival in Venice photo workshop. I thought this costume was especially beautiful and wanted to do something unique with it. I photographed San Marco Square just after the lamps were turned off, and the resulting dawn image was very cyan/blue. Therefore, when I pasted the model into the scene in Photoshop, I used Image > adjustments > color balance to change the colors from a daylight white balance (I photographed her at mid-morning) to a color that matched the environment. I photographed the model with a 24mm focal length, so that meant I had to use a background also taken with a wide angle. This was important because of the way the dress spread out at the bottom. It needed a wide angle foreground in which the perspective of the stonework was elongated to accommodate the hem of the costume.
