Back in the 80's I read an article in Audubon Magazine titled "Blue in Nature." It noted that except for the sky and large bodies of water, blue is an unusual color in nature. It featured many beautiful photographs of blue animals and blue flowers, and that prompted my pursuit of, especially, blue reptiles, birds, amphibians, and insects. A very few mammals have blue coloration as well. This is a panther chameleon exhibiting an intense shade of cyan blue. I shot this with film in the early 90's, and the 6x7cm transparency was scanned with an Imacon scanner to digitize it. The settings were unrecorded, but they were probably 1/60, f/16, and I used Fujichrome Provia 100 for all of my wildlife photography. I would have used a tripod, and in those days I relied on a Sekonic handheld light meter to determine the exposure.
