The last time I led a photo tour to Iceland, I promised myself that I wouldn't return without a drone. There are just too many amazing photographic possibilities. So, a week ago I bought one, and after practicing with it around my house, I was ready for something exciting to photograph. It turned out that a huge winter storm had struck Iceland and dumped an enormous amount of snow. The locals haven't seen this much snow in 20 years. I had been to Skogafoss Waterfall several times and always enjoyed photographing it, but today it was exceptional. Shrouded in white with icicles covering the cliffside, it was simply exquisite. At this time of year, days are short, so when I was finished photographing the falls from the ground, I was ready to test the drone. But it had gotten very dark; in essence, it was night. I thought this would be a real challenge for drone technology and for Photoshop -- and I was really happy with what I was able to capture. The picture you see here was taken at an astonishing 1/3 second, f/2.8, and 6400 ISO. In post-processing, I eliminated noise with Topaz DeNoise AI and this was followed by sharpening with Topaz Sharpen AI. This is the result. Earlier, there were about 3 dozen people there, but I didn't have to clone anyone out. It was so dark that all the people had left.
