These are three huge basalt columns called Reynisdrangar just outside of Vik, Iceland. I am leading a photography tour here starting tomorrow, so this is a shot from a previous trip. What I look for in landscapes is graphic design -- the shapes of things. Mountains, trees, rocks, glacial ice -- it all comes down to shapes in making strong image. The original sky at sunrise was nice, but the replacement sky is better. I took this shot with a 100-400mm Canon telephoto, and the settings were 1/640, f/11, and 800 ISO.
