This looks like a composite but it's not. I use Photoshop to put a lot of moons into my cityscapes and landscapes, but in this case I photographed what I saw. This is moonrise over Lisbon, Portugal, and I just happened to be on a terrace to photograph the city when, quite unexpectedly, the full moon rose in a perfect position. The only way I was able to expose this such that I captured good detail in the city and detail in the lunar surface was that this occurred at twilight. Had it been just 15 minutes later when the sky was black, the moon would be totally overexposed -- i.e. blown out -- when I exposed correctly for the architecture. In that case, I would, indeed, have to use Photoshop to composite a correctly exposed moon into the scene.

Rosemary Sheel - Don't you think you should have moved it to the right...just a little?..and maybe a bit lower?
Just joking. these shots of Portugal and Slovenia are beautiful.
