This is a chrome Sumatra short- tail python, and because I have a full workshop here in Kansas City, I didn’t want to interfere with the participants photographing the frogs and reptiles. So, I’d occasionally take a quick shot with my iPhone. iPhones continually amaze me with respect to the quality of the images as well as how they handle exposure, white balance, and contrast. The illumination in the room is from fluorescent fixtures, and they provide even lighting which simulates an overcast sky. I remember with film that photographing fluorescent lights meant the resulting images were an unattractive blue-green color. Now, our digital cameras, including iPhones, produce a color balance that’s perfect. In post-processing, I reduced the saturation of the background leaves.
