I am in Yala National Park today here in Sri Lanka. The greatest concentration of leopards on the planet are here, although because of the thick jungle vegetation, they are not easy to find. There are lots of birds, though, and it was a real thrill to get so close (about 10 feet) to these beautiful green bee eaters. They posed for several minutes, and given the close proximity, that was surprising. The light level was quite low in the deep shade, and that necessitated a high ISO so my shutter speed was fast enough for tack sharp pictures. I always shoot birds (and wildlife as well) with high speed continuous -- the fastest frame rate possible -- so I don't miss any nuances in the movement of my subjects. My settings were 1/640, f/8, and 5000 ISO. I shot this with a 100-400mm Canon zoom plus a 1.4x teleconverter, giving me 560mm of focal length. In post-processing, I used Neat Image software to eliminate the noise.
