As much as I like to get clean, unobstructed pictures of animals, there are many times in which I like to include the surrounding natural 'clutter' because, in truth, this is how so many species are seen. This is how they live, this is how they camouflage themselves when hunting or when hiding from predators, and it is these kinds of environments that make the pictures look like they were taken in the wild as opposed to a zoo. This is a serval cat, a mostly nocturnal animal that is rarely seen in Africa. I captured this one in the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya with a 500mm f/4 Canon lens, and my settings were 1/1000, f/8, 200 ISO. Soft light from a cloud cover extends the number of hours where good photography is possible. Sunrise and sunsets are great, but clear skies mean that good photography is limited to an hour or hour and a half from when the sun touches the horizon.
