I photographed this remarkable interior in the Kremlin in Moscow. This picture really shows the incredible depth of field of an extreme wide angle lens. I used the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 lens because of its great ability to gather light in dim circumstances. Because the lighting was so muted, I used the lens wide open -- f/1.8. In spite of that, I was able to capture the entire length of the ornate corridor with complete depth of field. My ISO was already at 3200 and the shutter speed was set to 1/60. The only way for me to use a smaller lens aperture was to raise the ISO. I was pretty close to the foreground arch, and I thought this meant I wouldn't be able to have complete DOF all the way to the back of the frame. This turned out to be incorrect, and I was happy with the results. The Sigma lens is heavy, but it's very sharp and very useful when shooting dimly lit interiors.
