One of the classic shots in the Palouse area of Washington State is this distant red barn seen from the top of Steptoe Butte. This is a sunrise shot taken about 25 minutes after the sun rose above the horizon. The early morning haze had burned off which helped deepen the contrast of the scene, although I added quite a bit of contrast in Photoshop to make this pop more than the original capture. I used a Canon 100-400mm lens plus a 1.4x teleconverter, giving me 640mm of focal length. The low angled light made the contours of the land stand out beautifully. My settings for this were 1/3200, f/8, 1250 ISO. I used a fairly high ISO so I could hand hold the camera, knowing that my 1Dx Mark II handles noise extremely well.
