One of the techniques I love to experiment with is mirroring an image or part of an image. I teach this in my online Photoshop training, and it's quite easy to do. In this portrait, I used the rectangular marquee tool to make a vertical selection from the middle of the model's nose and mouth to one side of the picture. I copied that to the clipboard (Edit > copy), pasted that half-image back into the shot (Edit > paste), flipped the layer horizontally (Edit > transform > flip horizontal), and then used the move tool to move it into place such that the result was a mirrored photo. The model's face looked too round due to the mirrored look, so I used Filter > liquify to reshape her face. I narrowed it and elongated it slightly. I did the same to her neck, and then I added a bit of makeup using the brush tool on 20% opacity. Finally, I selected her dress with the quick selection tool and changed its color from the original pale yellow to mauve. She is seated in a beautiful carved chair from Indonesia, and the backdrop panel is a set of antique teak doors from a Hindu temple, also from Indonesia.
