Here in Nepal we happened upon a wedding in progress, and with the permission of the participants my photo tour group and I photographed many of the beautifully dressed guests. The best subject, of course, was the beautiful, young bride. She was sitting in the shade with a sunny background, and this is a very tough photographic challenge. In addition, she was partially shaded by an umbrella and that added to the unattractive background. I spent some time in replacing the background in this image. The biggest challenge was dealing with the veil. If you're wondering how I did this, it's too difficult to explain in a short blog because it took many trial and error attempts. I basically took the out of focus section in the upper right corner and repeated that above her and to the left. My settings for this picture were 1/400, f/6.3, 1000 ISO, and I used a 100-400mm Canon lens set to 371mm so I could shoot from several feet away and not be too intrusive to the bride or the ceremony.
