Just like people, animals like free food. So when a lodge in the Pantanal region of Brazil puts out pieces of chicken to attract predators, this ocelot finds it hard to resist. Every evening about 5:30 it comes to feed. It's quite dark in the rainforest, so the lodge installed dim lights to allow photography. My settings were 1/125, f/8, and 8000 ISO, and I used a 100-400mm Canon telephoto. The cat stays for about 15 minutes, and in that time you can get many types of poses. I look for alertness with the ears strained forward as well as the stealthy, stalking, tense body language. You have to be very quiet and, if you must change position, it has to be slowly so as not frighten the ocelot.
