Yesterday I posted the beast; today I'm posting the beauty. This is an 11 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Rusty that my neighbor just brought home, and the puppy was a delight to play with and photograph. He met my two dogs, and it was great to watch them interact. Rusty was full of energy, and that made photography a challenge. I set my Canon R5 to 20 frames per second to catch every nuance of his frenetic movements, and I lay on the grass to take low angled shots. The original background was white sky, so I replaced it with gray clouds -- the kind of sky that would produce diffused light. My settings were 1/320, f/7.1, and 1250 ISO. I used a 500mm focal length because if I got too close, Rusty was all over me. . . Wrestling with my lens, nibbling on my fingers, jumping on my head. I loved it, but photography became impossible. So I backed off to allow him to focus on other things, and then I'd make a noise to draw his attention.
