This is model Solange Meren photographed in a 16th century palace in Venice. Solange always has spectacular costumes, and here she was seated on a sofa in front of a bank of large windows. I know this looks like I used flash, but I didn't. The lighting is entirely diffused window light. The cavernous room behind Solange was dark, and that gave me the idea to eliminate all the detail in the background. I did this with the brush tool in Photoshop. I then applied Flood, my favorite Photoshop plugin. It makes realistic watery reflections in any photograph. Previously, I had never done a picture like this in Venice. I'm always trying new visual ideas because I come here every year. My settings for the original shot were 1/125, f/5.6, and 500 ISO. I used a 16-35mm wide angle zoom for the picture.
