The immediately recognizable icon of Russia is the 16th century St. Basil's Cathedral in Red Square. It is stunning at any time of the day, but at twilight it is particularly dramatic. I photographed this view of it from a small nearby hill. The horizontal clouds in the sky were quite beautiful as a backdrop. It is interesting that the cobalt colors of twilight all photographers want to capture behind architecture and city skylines don't depend on the weather. It can be cloudy, raining, or clear, and in each case the combination of the warm, artificial city lights combine with the deep blue sky to produce outstanding images. My settings were 1/25, f/4.5, and 250 ISO with a 100-400mm lens stabilized by a tripod.
