I posted this picture 5 years ago when I took it, but I wanted to share it again because every time I see it, the humor in it makes me smile. I can only imagine what these baby mountain goats are thinking. Like, mom, are you kidding me! I took this on top of Mt. Evans in Colorado. One of my clients and friends, Nona Radin, showed me the best place to photograph the goats. It turned out to be a parking lot at 14,000 feet, and I could get remarkably close. I used a 24-105mm lens set to 82mm -- not exactly what you'd think when photographing animals in the wild. A big advantage, though, with using this focal length was that instead of the background going completely out of focus, I was able to take an environmental portrait. This shows a sense of place and context. My settings were 1/1000, f/9, and 200 ISO.
