What really surprised me when I saw Siberian tigers in China was how huge they are. There are a lot of beautiful animals in the world, but there's nothing is quite like these. It was minus 36 degrees Fahrenheit (-37.7 C) when I took this, and while I was grabbing my hand warmers to protect from frost bite, the tigers seemed perfectly comfortable in their beautiful and very thick winter coats. This was a tiger reserve, and two dozen cats had about 40 acres of land. I took this from a protected vehicle with bars on the windows using a 70-200mm telephoto set to 170mm. When I wasn't shooting, I held the camera against my body inside my parka to help keep the batteries warm and functional. My settings were 1/400, f/11, and 400 ISO.
