The abandoned and frightened kitten I rescued a month ago apparently thinks she is a piece of fruit because she always sleeps in the fruit basket on my breakfast table. It's really cute. Tonight I sat down for dinner and she watched me eat through the chrome handle on the basket and then promptly fell asleep. It was such an adorable picture so I grabbed my iPhone to take a few shots. The problem, though, was the background was fairly sharp and various elements in the kitchen were distracting. I then got my Canon R5 and, without changing lenses, I stepped back about 5 or 6 feet and used the 100-500mm telephoto. I zoomed to the 400mm position, and that made the background perfectly blurred with no definition at all. The indoor lighting in my kitchen forced a high ISO, and I switched to tungsten white balance.. My settings were 1/200, f/6.3, and 16,000 ISO. To mitigate the noise, I used Neat Image software.
