The Bridge of Sighs, built in 1600, is a popular backdrop for Venetian carnival portraits. I've used it many times, but yesterday morning the sun had just risen and the early morning light, softened by the atmosphere near the horizon, created a particularly beautiful , albeit very subtle, highlight on the side of the mask. The hot pink costume, also, made this photo opportunity exciting to see and shoot. I used a 24-105mm lens, and the settings were 1/80, f/4, and 125 ISO. The original sky was very light blue, and although it worked, I felt I needed to tone down the background to force more attention on the model. I used the Sky Replacement feature in Photoshop and chose a sky with defined gray clouds from my photo library.
