This is a grand staircase in the 18th century Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. I am leading a photo tour to Russia starting October 1, and this incredible art museum is one of the major attractions. To embellish the image, I used Topaz Remask 5 to make a precise selection around my wife, whom I photographed during carnival in Venice a few years ago in a gown that she designed and made. I feathered the edge of the selection one pixel, and then I pasted her on to the background. Using the burn tool, I made a shadow beneath the hem of the dress. I used a 14mm wide angle lens for the portrait of my wife, and for the interior of the Hermitage I shot with a 16mm lens. My settings for the architecture background were 1/125, f/6.3, and 1600 ISO.
