These are 4-day old ostrich chicks I photographed in Namibia. What struck me as I examined this shot closely was that it was taken with the Canon 5D Mark II in 2013, and although I used 640 ISO, the picture had too much noise -- at least by the standards we have come to want and expect at this time. I used Neat Image software to eliminate the noise, and as usual it did a sensational job. So, even with photos taken with cameras that aren't up to today's standards, Neat Image works wonders. It's only $39.90, and I now consider this essential software to have. It literally allows you to use ISO settings way beyond what you would normally be comfortable with because it's so good at reducing or eliminating noise altogether. My settings for this were 1/1250 and f/7.1, and I used a 200mm focal length hand held.
