This portrait was also done in the 16th century Venetian palace I used for the shot I posted yesterday. My favorite type of lighting for photographing people is diffused window light like this. It is flattering, always available, free, and it creates dimension and depth because of the way it sidelights the face. At the same time, texture becomes more pronounced as you can see in the fabrics of the costume. I adjusted the color so it went from off-white and beige to soft olive green. My settings were 1/125, f/5.0, and 2000 ISO, and I used a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 wide angle lens for the shot.
