The Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, Morocco is a beautiful cactus garden that was purchased by the famous fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, years ago. In the center of the garden is a stunning work in architecture that's painted cobalt blue, and the doors, windows, and staircases of the structure are extremely photogenic. Of course, I couldn't stop there. I thought, how amazing it would be if I had the perfect model and I had all the time in the world for a bold fashion shoot. I didn't have that model, so I used photos of a young woman my group photographed in Fes several days earlier. Using Photoshop, I opened the closed door and composited the model in red to be perfectly situated in the space between the colorful door and the door frame. You can make a closed door appear to be open by selecting the door and then applying Edit > transform > perspective, and then Edit > transform > scale. I demonstrate this technique in my online Photoshop classes (the next one starts June 25). You can read about the details on my website: jimzuckerman.com.
