Another light painting session took place last night. I found an old bus sitting in a field that had been turned into a would-be artist's palette, and after dark my group and I set our cameras on 30 seconds, f/8, and 400 ISO. I used a $20 flashlight I'd purchased at Walmart to illuminate both the exterior of the bus as well as the interior. The Milky Way was above us instead of near the horizon, so I used my Photoshop skills to select and paste it just above the bus. I used a 24-105mm Canon lens to make the shot. Don't think that I just light painted this one time and it was perfect. Not so. I had to make several attempts, varying the amount of light and experimenting with the direction of the light: front, side, back, etc.

Ian - Nice pleasing image, looks easy enough to capture, but as you honestly point out, it's not easy to achieve. I have not tried painting with light yet but it is on my list.
I don't always get the time to comment unfortunately, but I always enjoy your images and strive to perfect my own. Thank you.
